I had finished working on a project in Australia when I decided to head back to Central America for a while. I decided on Guatemala because I had been reading about the laid back lifestyle and wonderful outdoor activities available in the country. I also learned that their Spanish is some of the clearest in Latin America so I figured I could get some language practice in also. I didn’t really have a plan before arriving but as usual, I would figure it out as I went.

There weren’t many things to do in my village when I lived in rural Thailand. I could drive to the mall in Korat or go hangout at Khao Yai National Park but they were hours away from where I lived. However, about once a month, there would be a muay Thai kickboxing match set up at one of the local temples.
